Text Box: Text Box: Curatorial Committee: The Historical Society collects, catalogues and stores hundreds of artifacts and manuscripts. This committee, under the direction of a curatorial chair, works in this capacity. Also, to coincide with our programs and events, the committee will prepare exhibit cases of items within our collection.

Docent Committee: Docent positions are available for both historical houses; the Enoch Kelsey House and Kellogg-Eddy House & Museum. Scheduling is flexible. As a Docent in training you will be accompanied by a senior member of the team as you learn the history and technique of telling this fascinating story to our guests. Literature and training sessions are provided.

Hospitality Committee: This committee plans, organizes and bakes for a variety of festive presentations for our events. Soliciting additional help is always an easy thing to do when the need arises.

Garden Committee: We have opportunities both inside and outside for your gardening talents. Our solarium with its many windows and much sunlight offers a gardener's paradise for development and maintenance. Our butterfly garden as well as entrance gardens always love attention.
Programs Committee: The Programs committee, under the direction of the Program Chair, plans and organizes four fund raising events as well as our annual membership meeting. Of equal importance is community outreach which includes support of community organizations and development and presentation of selected programs for children.

Publicity Committee: Would you enjoy designing and/or distributing event flyers, preparing selected letters of Membership and Annual Appeal for mailing, as well as our Newsletters ? This is the place for you.

Weaving Committee: If you might have an interest in learning the art of weaving, please consider joining us. Make an item or two that can be at our events which in turn supports the Historical Society. Training is provided.

Text Box: Volunteers contribute greatly to the success of any historical society and particularly the Newington Historical Society because, with the exception of the Executive Director, it is governed and operated entirely by volunteers.

Consider volunteering for only a few hours a month. This offers you a chance to become involved in your community as well as an opportunity to learn about our heritage as you contribute to an organization whose primary goal is to promote interest and appreciation of Newington History.
