Open Hearth Cooking

Join us on November 8th, 2025 from 11 am – 1 pm for an Open Hearth Cooking and Weaving Demonstration at The Kelsey House (located at 1702 Main St, Newington, CT).

** Registration is Not Required and Admission is Free **

In support of the Newington Historical Society, all donations are gratefully accepted.

The apple cider will be hot and the foods for your tasting will be roasting on the open fire, all prepared for you by our Program and Hospitality Committees.

** Weaving Demonstration on our 19th Century Barn Loom. **

Our weavers will take you back to when Phidelia Root, a child of 10, sat with her mother at this loom which had been in their family since 1822. Try your hand at the loom. Perhaps you will consider joining the weaving committee.

Donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted for the benefit of the Newington Food Bank.
